Eligibility & Requirements
⦁ Age: Minimum 18 years
⦁ Education:
⦁ Interns: Enrolled in or recent graduates of education or related fields
⦁ Volunteers: Open to all with a passion for teaching and learning
⦁ Electives: Must meet academic institution’s criteria for credit-based placements
⦁ Language: Proficiency in English; basic Swahili is a plus (language orientation provided)
⦁ Duration: 2–24 weeks
⦁ Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for Islamic customs, dress codes, and local norms is essential
Accommodation & Support
ZAHESO provides:

⦁ Zanzibar is a tropical archipelago with rich biodiversity. Environmental consciousness is encouraged—reduce plastic use, conserve water, and respect marine ecosystems.

⦁ Predominantly Muslim society: modest dress (especially for women), no public alcohol consumption, and observance of prayer times.
⦁ Community values politeness, humility, and communal living.
⦁ Teachers are highly respected; punctuality and professionalism are expected.

2. Arrival & Orientation
⦁ Cultural induction (English & Swahili basics, customs, safety)

⦁ Tour of Stone Town and surrounding areas
3. Placement Activities

⦁ Teacher training (for experienced educators)

4. Reflection & Certification
